WHAT IS SLOTTING MACHINE ?

A slotting machine is a machine which is used for making Internal keyways and slots in Work Piece.
The main purpose of Slotting is to shape and cut hard materials like metal and wood. These are generally used in heavy industries like electrical, construction, furniture, automotive etc. These are considered as heavy duty robust machines specially designed for quick and accurate metal productions.

They are quite economical at the rates of high production because of consistency and longer functional life. Slotters are used where there is high production of keyways required, They are extensively used in the repair shops, tool rooms, textile factories, ship building, power plants, paper mills and steel-rolling mills. It is also known as vertical shaper consisting of base, column and table, ram and tool head assembly, saddle and cross slide, rams drive mechanism and feed mechanism.

APPLICATION OF SLOTTING MACHINE :

The main application of slotting machine is to cut keyways, slots, metal sheets, grooves of various shapes and forming regular or irregular shapes used in many manufacturing units. It can be used in any workshop where vertical tool movement is necessary and required to manufacture different metal objects.

बेड की लंबाई

आप या तो हमारे स्टैंडर्ड के अनुसार बेड की लंबाई का चयन कर सकते हैं या आप सेंटर टू सेंटर की दूरी की गणना करके लेथ का चयन कर सकते हैं

 सेंटर की उचाय

 आपकी लेथ मशीन की सेंटर की ऊंचाई O.D से मेल खानी चाहिए। आपकी जोब का। आपके काम के अनुसार स्विंग ओवर बेड और स्विंग ओवर क्रॉस स्लाइड का चयन किया जाना चाहिए। लेथ मशीन की सेंटर उसके बेड से नापी जाती हे

 

स्पिंडल होलो

 स्पिंडल बोर का चयन इस तरह किया जाना चाहिए कि आपकी जोब ओ.डी. से गुजर सकता है (यदि आवश्यक हो)।

 

बेड की चौड़ाई

 बेड की अधिक चौड़ाई लेथ मशीन को अधिक कठोरता और मजबूती प्रदान करती है। भारी काम में यह आवश्यक है।

बेल्ट संचालित में दो विकल्प हैं, वी-बेल्ट संचालित और फ्लैट बेल्ट संचालित। फ्लैट बेल्ट की तुलना में वी बेल्ट अधिक स्थिर और लंबा जीवन है लेकिन भारत के कुछ क्षेत्रों में फ्लैट बेल्ट का उपयोग बुश बेरिंग के साथ किया जाता है।

BASIC CONTROLLING PARTS OF LATHE AND THEIR FUNCTION

  1. Lever for direct drive and back gear drive:
    1. This Function of this lever is to change the direct to back gear drive and similarly back gear drive to the direct drive.
  2. Knob for main gear engage/disengage:
    1. This is the spring loaded knob. Before putting the machine in the back gear drive. Pull out this knob with pin from main gear.
  3. Half – Nut Operating Lever :
    1. This lever used to engage or disengaged the half-nut with the lead screw while threading.
  4. Cross Slide Screw hand wheel :
    1. The function of this hand wheel is to operate the cross slide in transverse direction. A graduated micro-ring is provided on this hand wheel.
  5.  Tool post bolts :
    1. The cutting tool is holding by these bolts in between the tool post. Use the tool post spanner for tighten or loosen these bolts.
  6. Tool post clamping lever :
    1. During the turning process, sometimes it is necessary to give an angle to the cutting tool. By means of this lever you can clamp the tool post at required position.
  7. Compound screw handle :
    1. Compound top slide is operated by this handle in longitudinal direction. A graduated micro-ring is provided with this handle.
  8. Apron hand wheel :
    1. By using this hand wheel you can give longitudinal direction to the carriage with cross slide and compound slide on the bed guide ways.
  9. Tailstock quill clamping lever :
    1. This lever used to clamp the tailstock quill in required position.
  10. Tailstock clamping lever or hex bolt.
    1. This lever used to clamp the tailstock body at the required distance on the bed.
  11. Tailstock quill hand wheel :
    1.  The tailstock quill is operating by the tailstock hand wheel. A graduated micro ring is provided on this hand wheel.

We will try to explain in the easiest way possible, So, to understand the basic difference between Bandsaw and Hacksaw, first we will understand about both the machines in details.

Metal Cutting Hacksaw:-

Hacksaw machines are primitive in technology, Power hacksaws are used to cut large sizes (sections) of metals such as steel. Cutting diameters of more than 10/15mm is very hard work with a normal hand held hacksaw. Therefore power hacksaws have been developed to carry out the difficult and time consuming work.

The heavy ‘arm’ moves backwards and forwards, cutting on the backwards stroke.

Below given schematic Representation of Hacksaw Cutting Machines.

Hacksaw machines are Basically of Three types ,

  1. Manual Hacksaw
  2. Semi Hydraulic hacksaw
  3. Fully hydraulic hacksaw

Metal Cutting Bandsaw:-

The name suggest Bandsaw is cutting machine where blade is fed continually to Cutting Workpiece, blade revolves around two-wheel arms and it cuts on perpendicular plane. The bandsaw blade is supported and driven by a drive wheel and an idler wheel. Because each tooth is a precision cutting tool, accuracy can be held to close tolerances. This eliminates or minimizes many secondary machining operations. In addition, chip removal is very fast. When the bandsaw is turned on, the operator raises the saw and makes the blade descend on the clamped material, cutting it as the band blade moves. After the cutting is completed, the bandsaw switches off automatically.
